Nappie at lunch

Posted by Bill Slavin on 10 Oct 2022, 13:58

I was having a bit of fun with some of Strelets odd but figure rich (36 unique poses!) Napoleon's General Staff set. This features Napoleon (from a different Strelets set) with an ADC taking notes while Davout and a generic officer with spy glass accompany him. The Marmeluke Roustam is, of course, in faithful attendance. Two liveried servants serve lunch from a picnic basket. I couldn't find any reference for Napoleon's servants but did read that green was the imperial livery colour so I went with that.
Looking forward to putting them on a gaming table some day!

They really form a top notch command group for your top notch Peninsular French army, Bill. ;-)

Wow, these are super nice. Excellent painting, very subdued but full of color and character. You make the most of these sometimes clunky figures from Strelets. Good stuff Bill. Cheers,

Outstanding. The Emperor deserves no less!
I trust there's a good Chambertin in that bottle & perhaps a serving of Chicken Marengo in the hamper?

Wonderful little compositions Bill that will surely add a glorious little touch to your wargame table/collection.
I kinda find these Strelets minis a bit spooky but you’ve brought them to life in your indefatigable and unique style. Love them…..

Superb work, great painting and imaginative use of these old-style Strelets figures. Well done!

Were Strelets still producing their sets with dozens of individual poses, an Allied Napoleonic Command 'picnic' set might be in order....Blucher with a tankard of ale, Kutuzov with a glass of something stronger perhaps, Wellington tossing a chicken leg in the air exclaiming "That will do...!", Schwarzenberg sitting down to dine in sedate grandeur etc etc. :-)

Very nice indeed.

I am kicking myself as I could have used the tray and bottle on my Quatre Bras closing shots rather than make them from scratch.

Personally, I would chop the telescope down or use something a bit more realistic.

Stretlets original weapons etc were always too chunky for my liking.

Good stuff Bill.

Best wishes,

Chris
