Miscellaneous Napoleonic Cavalry

Posted by k.b. on 14 Nov 2022, 14:03

As it seems that Cuirassiers are very much a theme here at the moment thought i'd throw into battle a few French heavies against their Russian counterparts.
In the heat of battle i am sure there was many an incident of friend killing friend. Perhaps not so often heavy cavalry, but taking into account the infinite variety of hussar uniforms i feel sure hussar compatriots must have suffered losses at the hands of their own or allied infantry, artillery and maybe even cavalry.

Some Cossacks hitting the French from behind suggests a gloomy end for Napoleon's cavaliers.

Amidst the chaos of my work desk a few revamped French cavalry are beginning to emerge.......

Here are a few Dragoons, the odd Chasseur, two or three Dutch Lancers and a couple of Hussars to even things up a little for the French.

Nice reinforcements! I love your work, your choices of colors especially, and above all, the conversion of a french dragoon in trousers is a great idea, I must try something similar one of these days.

Thanks a lot gents for your words of incentive….
Here’s a more panoramic view of the melee: Image

Looking at this I realise that with my next batch of painted cavalry I need to change the colours of some of my horses to a darker shade of brown and a few more dark bays/blacks.

And yet another……, this time taken with my iphone and strangely enough the focus seems a little better than on the automatic setting of my Canon. Suppose it’s high time I studied the manual and learnt how to improve my depths of field !
