Pearl Harbor 1941

Posted by panzerman825 on 06 May 2022, 12:26

Hello fellow modelers,
Presented below is a build I did for a group build on Youtube. The kit is the Early War U.S. Soldiers and Sailors from Strelets. I did some minor conversions on the figures(head swaps). The kit provided Browning 50 cal. required the most work reshaping it. The ship section base was made out of paper stock, styrene, and foam board. Comments and thoughts are welcomed. Thanks.
Bill

Nicely done! The round base makes for some very interesting staging of the ship (beautifully executed) and the painting of the figures is very good. I always find many Strelets figures a bit cartoony, not something that I generally mind on a wargaming table, but in a diorama of this complexity I think I would have been inclined to go with something more realistic. However, that would probably call for some scratch building as I'm sure options for early was American seamen and soldiers are limited! :yeah: :yeah:

Poor man in the water.
There is a big nasty hole in the right side.
Maybe we will sit, watch and wait long enough then the deck starts turn into an angle?
The poses at the upper deck bring the dynamic part into the whole scene.

Top made of a dramatic moment of history.

:yeah:

Wow, what a cool idea and a very good depiction of the topic. The diorama looks very dynamic and powerful with it´s different levels......GREAT! The AA gun also looks very cool and unusual with that cooling pipes.

I like it a lot. I visited Pearl Harbor in 2016 and all the museums there. It is definitely worth the trip if any of you ever get over there.
