Here's a 'Paul Cubbins 100% Original' leading His Majesty's Foot Guards to glory, with a bit of an egg on from His Grace!

Great stuff! The Airfix Waterloo British Infantry set remains one of my favourite-ever Airfix sets, and they still grace the ranks of my 1815 army. They look very good here Harry! :yeah:

"Now Maitland, now's your time..." as depicted in the film 'Waterloo' is one of those scenes that I wish they were able to shout "Cut" on, and re-take, with some good advice from the friendly on-set military/historical advisor. Could have been a superb few seconds of cinema, showing a British two-rank volley on 'full power' followed up with a cheer and a bayonet charge. But no, instead widely spaced ranks firing almost 'Zulu Wars' style.....mnnn??

Oh, the old Airfix-set! Last one I bought in the 70s and very fond memories of them! Very nice to see!

Nice to see the classic Airfix Waterloo British Infantry (dating from 1972) so well painted. And Maitland figure is specially pretty.

Fantastic job, Harry Faversham. :yeah:

I am helpless before the power of a well-painted dapple grey, and this is certainly a prime example. Exceptional job! Have you ever considered doing some duels?

No, because I didn't paint Sir Peregrine.
One of the UK's top figure painters, Mr. Paul Cubbins, did him me as a favour...
my standard of painting is the scruffy shower stood behind the General!

And it's honour actually, using the proper Queen's English, old bean!

If it is to be a duel between gentlemen, then I assume pistols at 20 long paces.

Now, with a wargames ground scale of, say, 1cm = 10 yards (paces) that suggests the Honourable Maitland and his challenger, Count von Bluefalchion, at approximately 2cm apart on the table-top.

I can image the red splats already!! :-D

Oh, and how's it to work? I suggest simple dice rolls for each dueller. A 1 or 2 is a miss. A 3 or 4 is a hit and a slight wound. A 5 is a serious wound. And a 6 is an immediate mortal wound (with the casualty dying in the arms of his second on the duelling field).

If the first round results in a miss (roll or 1 or 2) on both sides, then the opponents may elect to shoot again; or shake hands and head for the nearest Public House or Tavern to make amends.

There is a memorable pistol duel in the film Barry Lynden. But I won't spoil the ending for any of you who haven't seen it. Actually there are two!

But I had in mind a painting duel, just like the one running now:

So, my dear Blue Tit I accept your challenge!
You do all the hard work, naming the contestants we have to create, and the time-span in which we need to do it...
and I shall concentrate my prodigious talent in painting said Toy Sowjer!
