Granicus 334 BC - Alexander of Macedon

Posted by krugi3 on 03 Sep 2021, 18:17

Hello!

Another small diorama is finished. This time we get back to age of Alexander the Great, finding him in his first battle against the Persians at the river Granicus (modern day Turkey) in the year 334 BC.

Here can see the final diorama:

Wow! Full of action. Nice paintwork, groundwork, and water effect.

A very effective and evocative diorama...those Persian cavalrymen coming out of the river Granicus to confront Alexander and his immediate bodyguard of Companions cannot have realised how history would be changed by this young Macedonian on horseback. Very effective modelling, painting and photography.

That's a very nice diorama. The leopard skin on the horse is fantastically well done! But what I really like is the round base and how it has the effect of making the entire scene swirl around the central character - very effective!

From first pictures somehow I thought it is one big diorama... but its size doesn't make it less beautiful

What a lovely diorama! I like how the action seems to be contained so neatly in the circular base. The leopard skin is particularly well done.
