Knocked out KV1

Posted by dombom on 28 Jan 2021, 08:54

It's 1941 and the Germans invaded Russia. What they did not know: the Russian T34 and KV tanks are superior to the German tanks. Only the 8.8 Flak and the Panzer 4 can penetrate the thick armor. It's that time, where the German anti tank guns got their nickname as "doorknockers", because they couldn't do more than knocking at the tanks hull.
Knocking out the Russian tanks with anti tank mines and charges or destroying them with artillery were often the only way to stop them.

KV tanks were slow and thick armored monsters and almost impenetrable at the beginning of the war. The main disadvantage were the lower reliability compared to the faster and lighter T34 rank.

Very nice indeed.

The tank looks excellent and and so is the groundwork.

A few ‘unfortunate’ crew members might add poignancy to this scene.

Well done .

Best wishes,

Very nice job on the KV1! Painting and weathering of the tank is very well done. And I think the mine damage to the wheels and tracks looks very convincing. Great job!
What is the brand of the KV 1? Trumpeter?

I did learn a lot about weathering from that project. My next diorama is already ongoing and this time I will use the techniques I tested out on that KV1 in a better organised way and hope to improve the realism even more :D

It is this Italeri tank:

I like this scene, but the pictures are too few and too small

I would be happy to be a 1/10th as good as you.

Could you be persuaded to do some posts here on what you use & how you use it?

A really nice dio and great work on the tank. It is very convincing. I love the look of the KV’s. They were such brutes!
