Fantastic skin! Very subtle shading on the flesh tones. Excellent everything else of course.

Wonderful painting of the new Linear-A figures and I think they are just what your dio needed. The dais looked a little bare before.

It is interesting to see the Linear-A figures because I have that set on order, I think they might have taken a short holiday in Suez. The figures from the bull leaping set do look good beside them.

What a masterpiece!
I like the subtle colors you choose to represent this scene.
Being such a colorful theme, I think they work better than a brighter or saturated range.
Congratulations!

It was a wonderful idea of yours to add still some figures to the existing scene. They fit very well to the event and to your high quality painting with so many details.
Only a question: Did exist so big bulls on Crete? I think the bull is very impressive, but he is really big.

Dear sansovino,
regarding the size of the bull I believe Alex sculpted it having in mind the existing Minoan fresco:

I just think the same. If I felt in love with this diorama the first time I saw, now it has become a still more perfect masterpiece, Kostis. Very well done, my friend. :notworthy:   :notworthy:

By the way, I also felt in love with your marvellous island (specially the Knossos remains) when I finally could visit it some years ago, after more than half my life wishing to to it. ;-)

Best regards.

Santi.

I have read of speculation the Minoan Bulls were a remnant population of aurochs (the giant, extinct wild cattle species).

It's a nice thought but unlikely.

As Kostis wrote; their size is probably an artistic convention.

Fantastic Kostis, just pushing the like button wasn't enough.
The Linear-A figures fit in well. Such an iconic scene of mysterious Minoan Crete
And Alex sculptures - gems who cried out for an excellent painter

Greetings to a far off island, makes me dream

I have read that in numerous places.
There are big bulls out there. Spanish fighting bulls generally are on the smaller side, but if you look at American riding bulls they fit in more of the profile of the Minoan beasts. I remember going to the county show on Anglesey when I was younger. There was a Hereford bull there that was only a couple of inches shorter than I was - 5ft 9in.
Aurochs were big beasts, but bad tempered, I suspect that the aurochs bloodline was included for the size, and other tractable bloodlines added to that.
