Bloody Zama

It's time for some humility, so it's all about a DBA match against Mr. Andrea.

This time we played Carthaginians against Romans. As so often before, it started quite well for me - or rather the Carthaginians - and I had high numbers when rolling the dice. So I could at least get my army into a battle formation between forest and hills.

The crucial mistake was the position of my elephant, which I should have brought further to the right to avoid having it facing the forest and the Roman psiloi.

When both armies collided, I was not so lucky with the dice and Mr. Andrea had the better overview.

At least my Gauls held the left flank and stood stable on the hill. However, my heavy infantry in the center wavered when attacking the Roman legionnaires.

One more time I put the Roman general in trouble with a flank change of my light cavalry on the right flank.

But when it came to turning the tide I rolled only ones. But it was really exciting. All the lines broke and it was a collection of noisy battles of individual units on the battlefield.

Bloody Zama: The Carthaginians lost 4-0.

But it was, as always, a nice evening among gentlemen. Maybe it will work better next time... 8)

I'm not sure why did you even bother. You could just googled it that Romans won.
Or Mr.Andrea knew that and let you play with Carthaginians? :xd:

Love your battler report, Jan. Particularly when I am the winner
Please keep doing it! 8)
As we say in Italy: la fortuna é una dea bendata, ma la sfiga ci vede benissimo (Fortune is a blindfolded goddess, but Misfortune sees very well).

I have an idea to buffer extreme misfortune during our battles. Those too many 1 with the dice are really annoying and not good for our old nervous systems. I suggest using a pool of 3 points to use as needed during the battle to increase by max 1 point our die score, once per turn, but only if the die scores 1 or 2. Let's test it our next battle if you agree.
