Delta Stand

I squeezed in a solo Bronze Age game, using the excellent 'Hail Caesar' rules.

This involved an invasion of New Kingdom Egypt by a coalition of the Mycenaeans & Sea Peoples. The action opens in the Nile Delta:

The NKE were assembled under their mighty Pharaoh, Ramses111, facing the Mycenaeans, under Agamemnon. They were also aware that a fleet of Peleset & Sherdan were bearing down upon them:

The Egyptian plan was simple: Ramses' & Nefekare's Chariot, infantry & Bow Divisions would attack & destroy the haughty Greeks whilst Memnon's light Nubians & Libyan mercanaries waited for the Sea Peoples to land;

Sadly, Diomedes' Division of Mymirdons, the Trojan Horse & other crack Greek units quick marched & were upon Memnon's weak troops:http://theminiaturespage.com/Image

On the main front, Ramses' Divisions were blocked by Mycenaean Spears whilst arrows & sling shot poured down on them:

In the centre, Neferekare's Division fared badly against Agamemnon, who softened the elite chariotswith missile fire before the heavier Mycenaean chariots broke them:

Asa final stroke, the Sea People's, throwing a '9' 0n a d10, finally landed:

The game took something under 3 hours to play. The NKE had a number of poor activation rolls & also did not use their numerous missile troops as well as the Greeks.

The NKE were on "autopilot" This was done by Egyptians win by allowing them broad actions, allowed when trigger points were met: they could - hold ground, shoot and counter-punch.

The Mycenaeans felt aggressive and purposeful - suitable as they were the invaders. The Egyptians felt cautious, powerful, and sometimes frustrating

Could the NKE have won? Definitely.

An interesting and unusual ancient action.

As usual the scenery and troops are lovely with the ships being a bonus feature.

Best wishes,

Chris

Thanks, Chris. You are kind not to mention the two, different game mats. I need to either buy two more fleece mats (from Cigar Box) or two more mouse pad ones (from I forget) so the games have uniform terrain.

I want to make some Egyptian ships at some time, too.

What a wonderful display of 1/72 figures on so fantastic setting, Donald! In addition to the figures from Caesar, Atlantic, and Hät (as well as others I cannot identify), I love the ships of the Sea Peoples and the buildings.

Thanks for sharing.
