SYW Practice game

Posted by Ochoin on 01 Nov 2025, 06:36

I'm just waiting for the Allies to turn up for our final practice game for the Brisbane Gaming, Hobby & Model Expo in three weeks.

My French are waiting for battle (this is about 40% of the French army that will feature at the show. The Prussians, British and Hanoverians will make suitable opponents.

Impressive units as always.

Your war game settings and troops always have the air of the period.

Looking forward to see the clash of arms.

Best wishes,

Thanks, Chris.
Our rules for the period are home-grown & unapologetically "old school".
This is not to say I don't like modern, streamlined rules such as "Hail Caesar' or " Valour & Fortitude" but the extra detail with drill and movement gives these SYW games a real period feel.

They don't play too slowly as combat is bloody & failed morale will whisk you off the battlefield quite quickly.
