My Lion Rampant retinue

Posted by Ochoin on 09 Dec 2022, 02:27

These 60 figures took a l-o-n-g time to paint - mainly because I knew nothing about medieval warfare. But now that they're done, I'm happy with the result.

6 Elite cavalry, including their leader, Godfrey the Lion

Long bowmen in livery

Crossbowmen. Sometime in the near future, I'll get a set of parvises.

Heavy infantry spearmen

Veteran heavy infantry

Skirmishers

All Tumbling Dice 25mmmetal figures

I'm looking forward to my first games which should be within the month.

Excellent looking figures Donald. May they reign supreme on the table of dreams.

Good looking figures, donald. I think you have done a fine job in identifying units by livery, ideal for the wargames table if (possibly) a little too uniform for the earlier medieval period? The mounted knights also look very convincing. Fine work!

You have plenty of reasons to be happy, Donald. The figures have turned out great. Congratulations!

As indicated, my lack of knowledge of the period is considerable! I won't be surprised if other flaws surface. Heraldry was a daunting topic & I know I "dumbed it down" for my retinue.

Interestingly, for every other new period I've started, I've gone out & bought a slew of books. Apart from the rulebook, I bought nothing else for the medieval period. There's enough stuff online & really, I think this retinue will be all I'll do.
