Yes. Evidently, in reality the rear ranks had little armour but Newline only have figures with linen armour & greaves. Not entirely satisfactory.

My next phalanx (or two) will be using the forthcoming Linear A set.

They look lovely.

Excellent ‘atmosphere’ with this unit.

Best wishes,

Chris

Always impressive to see a full phalanx-unit, especially when painted this nicely!

I am looking forward. So let us hope that Linear-a will come up with new sets soon. But I think they still have problems to transfer their sets from the factory due to Covid.

I'll wait if I have to.......or Linear A, seeing I'm a great painter :-D , could send me two boxes & I'd paint them so they could use the images for promotion!

I thought I'd stick in this fairly awful photo so you can see the progress:

(wait for a game & I'll do proper close-ups)

14 units (not all complete). I clearly need more pikes. Also the army list only allows 1 unit of elephants (2 models). As Pyrrhus used Nellies on both flanks in some battles, I definitely need two more beasts.

A most impressive sight donald. You have clearly put a huge amount of work and thought into this army. It will be great to see it arrayed on the battlefield.

The phalanx looks great and I do like those slingers. I can see how you need more pikes to match that splendid turnout by the cavalry.

I'm sure you could slip in another couple of elephants without anyone noticing.

Thanks for the kind & generous words.

I may have mentioned I was after a figure to represent Pyrrhus.

Instead I found this beauty:

I don't often buy figures painted by other people but how could I resist?
