The Road to Arnheim - Arn's coming home

Posted by Susofrick on 29 Jan 2016, 10:38

Hi!

I plan to paint 4-5 figures from Valdemar's set Pilgrims II. Not going to send one of the knight and the dog, though. Haven't decided what figures more than that. I think them in a little scene on the road to Arnheim, just walking along. Haven't decided if shall carry spears or some working tools yet. Unfortunatley Photobucket is down at the moment so I use Tinypic instead.

Pilgrims returning home is a very cool idea. Do you have a palm frond left over from your jungle for one to carry.

For my part, I'm currently awaiting the arrival through the post of some people not on foot but on bicycles...

Hey folks,
great projects. Exactly what I was dreaming of. I hope there will be more of that the next weeks. I will follow your progress, Gunnar and I am looking forward to see your first steps for the new idea.

That is a question I can't answer. Haven't decided which figures I will send yet. Pics from Sunday morning and Sunday evening. Goes pretty slow. In the background you can see the ruler of Syrinx and he and his staff belongs in another topic.

Hello Gunnar, I think you have plenty of time. Btw: Nice stairways in the background.

Now I have the hardest part to do, paint over all my small mistakes! At least for the Medevils.

And here is another project I hope to finish for this group build: "Shooting Practice". Haven't started with them yet, so we'll see. Okay, Tinypic seems to have Sunday still, so no picture. But the scene is set in the 30-years war.

And I also have a little project set in WWI called "We got one". No picture here either. Think you will survive since none of these are painted yet.

Hey Gunnar, all this "sounds" great to me. I will do the pikemen. So this is a good combination. Go on Gunnar!!

But where are all the others. Come on guys! Let's go together the Road to Arnhem. Last year we had 14 different countries. I would love to top this number. In times of trouble all over the world, this is a small and little symbol that we could all be working together. So choose something that could fit to this topic, a single figure might be enough. And for all of you that could not be part of the show at the FIGZ, let these entries speekk for you and your work.

Been working! Arn and his pilgrim friends are almost finished!

Image

Robin Hood, Will Scarlet and Much, the miller's son thought that the Sheriff were to close for comfort so they decided to leave Sherwood for a while. They lost Tuck as soon as they got off the boat and Little John spent the night with a lady, overslept, got on the wrong boat in the hurry and ended up in Denmark.

Image

Also started with the TYW-figures. For the decency I started with their trousers. We can't have figures without trousers, can we?

Image

And made the classic mistake! I put Arnhem in Belgium! It's like placing Dublin in England or Stockholm in Norway. Stupid! And started to paint Belgian troops from WWI. Sigh! The German is at least better! And he is almost finished! And, yes, Balor Brown was the right colour for Belgian troops! Sigh again!

Image

I used this book! Highly recommended and I can probably find dutch troops too.

Gunnar, did you know that the Netherlands didn't take part in WWI. Their border was closed. :(

And I see you are very busy my Swedish friend! ;-)

Yes, I saw that. Could just as well paint some Swedish troops with the tricorne. Sigh. I could paint some civilians catching that German, but that wouldn't make them very neutral. Maybe I can come up with something else. If I hadn't told anyone about the WWI-stuff I could have used them in a competition, but now they will end up in a dio. It was fun as long as it lasted, though. But the rest will be done!
