At the Gladden Fields

Posted by Susofrick on 19 Nov 2021, 11:28

After the pollution caused by the fall of Sauron had run its' course Davy started to have guided hunting tours on the still highly polluted mighty Andouin. Hmm, looks like there isn't much to hunt there! Or are there zombies around the corner???

Hmm.... something seems wrong here! Don't remember any Davy from The Lord of The Rings ... Ah, yes! It's a WIP!!! Plan to make a marshland by adding grasstufts on the glass-surface and the base and some trees. Painting Isildur and his group with a some addiotions not in the books or movies and a couple of orcs (also with some additions not in the books or movies). Caesar crusaders and Orcs box 2 and some figures from Dark Alliance. And when I finish the base I can probably use it for other scenes too! Maybe send Davy and his friend on a real hunting trip. :-D

Gunnar are you sure that you did not trip out after eating all those magic mushrooms? Anyway whatever, your book is open and the scene appears as if made of rare glass, and the canoe drifts by as if an autumn leaf upon the deep blue waters.

As another Winter is on way of its approach,
It will be good to see your tale take shape Gunnar,
and i thank you for stepping up into your rightful place. BB

Seems that Davey's hunting trips isn't too popular with the locals!

Added some moss, but it gets very slow right now. More plants will come. And more orcs and knights. Davey? Hmm, will not be there!

Interesting.
A realy huge Dio is in your pipeline.
The team in the boat look cool.
One powered it the other make a landing on the beach with his fire arm possible.

Now I know the destination of my orctober ork.
But that marshland. How to cross it without a boat?

Huge thanks! I will try to finish this. It's not very much that need to be added, a couple of trees, a lot of grass. Have to buy more grass though! Hmm, think Wiking have come up with something. The locals aren't angry at Davey for his hunting trips, it is their boat he is using!

You have the beginnings of a lovely scene, the water looks a tad blue to me, but if you're happy with it that's great!

I've painted Isildur, his standard-bearer and one more knight. A bit shiny, but they were seen as the shining stars of their time. :-D There will be some more cavalry and some infantry and a couple of elves. Maybe these are a bit short for Numerorians, but I can only say that sometimes is history wrong. :-D And heroes have a tendecy to grow after their death.

Finished some orcs and given Isildur a couple of elves. Also put arrows in some orcs and added bowstrings to all bows (maybe not that visible).

The orcs (all Caesar):

On my big generic base:

With their cousins from Prince August and Mithril with a halftroll and a troll thrown in:

And the elves (from Dark Alliance and a joy to paint!). And no! he won't get more than five elves!

And now all together:

That's it for now. Now working on some infantry and more cavalry for Isildur.

Finished some more of Isildur's men, Alliance, Caesar and Zvezda. Took out the horny guy from the French HYW-infantry, but his horn fell to pieces when I looked at it so I used the one from the Russian Medieval infantry (1st version). Have more cavalry, bowmen and heavy infantry that I want to paint (and more orcs), but I think I have to take a look at the base to see how many figures I can get there.

Yes, he is leaning a lot! But if I put an attacking orc there it will work.

Image

Two grizzled veterans is absolutely a minimum after such a long war!

Image

And while I'm waiting for my grass and other stuff to arrive from Germany I'm off to Prussia!
