I am too, because it is not too much, but also not too little.

Cool job again up to this step. I am also looking forward to this last T34. And I am also curious what you plan to do next year?!

Thank you very much guys!

Wheels and tracks
Now I'm encountering a serious problem.

Image
I started cleaning up the wheels and building them together.

Image
Painted and weathered.

Image
Wheels glued in place..

Image
On its wheels.

Image
Tracks painted and weathered.

Image
The closure had to be melted together. As I didn't trust the strength of the connection I added some sewing thread.

Image
 :(
The tracks are too short! At least 0,5 cm. There is no possibility to get them around the wheels without breaking them off. Maybe they were elastic once, but not anymore.

What to do now?

What to do now? Have a look in your sparebox? ;-)

I think you have already a solution but you wanted to be polite and ask us for it. You're smart, you will fix it! :-D

No, I do not know the answer to this question.

But it is causing me genuine distress. Those beautiful, perfectly weathered tracks, currently useless! Ah, me.

Tracks (part 2)

After a sleepless night ;-) I remembered I still had a set of tracks from the Airfix T34, of which I earlier nicked the wheels for another T34. Maybe they will fit?

Image
Here they are between the Fujimi tracks.

Image
Painted and weathered. (Excuse me for the blurred photo)

Image
In any case, the Airfix tracks are bit longer. You can see the Fujimi track fits into the Airfix track, which is also a bit more elastic. So this is promising.

Image
There we are, problem solved. The only thing is the Airfix tracks are a bit thick and are lacking any side detail (Like most rubber band tracks). For strength I hammered through a big staple. (How to camouflage that later?)

Image
Looking acceptable. Now only some gravity on the tracks is needed.

Image
Two lengths of iron wire to be drilled through the hull.

Image
Almost there. Only a few details to add to the tank.

You see! You're smart! :-D

Great solution for the tracks!

Now you have to find another tank that fits those leftover tracks.

The last additions
Only a few small parts are left to finish the tank

Image
Two towing cables made of copper fuse wire, with towing eyes from the Esci T34 kit.

Image
After paint and weathering.

Image
I visited my garden with the pruning shear for some twigs.

Image
Towing cables in place, together with the twigs, to provide extra protection to the hull sides against Panzerfaust and other hollow charges. Antenna onthe turret roof. And black soot around the exhausts.

Image
Finished. Now for a base of some sort.

Thanks Peter!

Building a base (1)
A well known start after four earlier bases in this style:

Image
The rim of a yoghurt container and a piece of plywood, on which the intended position of the tank is drawn.

Image
As this T34 is in typical Berlin livery from the last weeks of the war, this vignet is intended to create an urban environment. I cut a template from a piece of paper.....

Image
.....and copied it on plywood.

Image
Windowframes from cardboard, and windowsills from matches.

Image
Glued to a piece of plywood representing a sidewalk. Some more frames on the walls and a doorstep.

Image
The ruin is glued on the base. The walls were 'painted' using thinned filler, to create the effect of plaster.

Image
The sidewalk is paved, using clay. On the edge the tiles are forced up by the weight of the tank.

Image
The street is paved too, including two sinks and primed black.
Now on with painting, weathering and detailing.

Thanks, Mabo and Peter!

Figures
While working on the base I selected a few figures to go along with the tank.

Image
On the left three standing figures from Esci, on the right two sitting figures from Hät. One was painted already for an earlier T34, but didn't fit.

Image
After painting.
The base is almost finished too!

Why? Huib took care of the Russians. He pinned them! We have another "impaler" among us!
