Fantastic miniatures! Of course, he did the eyebrows in the middle figure, for full accuracy!

The Koreans had an art of wielding two swords but did the Chinese Ming dynasty soldiers do it too, as depicted with your first figure?

Korea was vassal state, military was all wiped out early in the war,"训练督监”founded in July 1593,it was a brand-new training department that the training and armament of the new army are all based on the Ming army.

佛郎机炮
Western cannon of the Ming era

At that time, it was introduced to China by the Portuguese. In Ming Dynasty, Portugal was called Farangi ,Firangi, it's all a misreading of the word Frank,so the cannon was named Farangi cannon.

Hi,sansovino:
:stressed: It's too much work, insist on it so long was completely love & faith.
Spend time with family and pc-games, fitness......time passes quickly
I put them on the bookcase temporary
If the diorama is done one day, I'll go back to finish 1242AD- Battle of Lake Peipus,
Some of the figures made five years ago that you can see in the picture below, there were at least a hundred of warriors ,it was suspended then I started this project.
I've always been interested in Teutonic Order vs Russians.

There's never enough time in the day, and to think you have whole cabinets of miniatures which aren't a project log on here!

I feel very privileged to see your work revealed as you progress. Your work is of highest quality in every respect and I would imagine your research is every bit as good. You need to do the diorama as it will display your work in context and add the narratives that tell the complete story. Thank you for sharing your work. It is truly extraordinary.

I decided to translate a detailed introduction of both sides of the battle, including the composition and size of the army, the commanders and so on, during the Chinese Spring Festival vacation.A lot of words are hard to translate, so I try to make them easy to understand

The painting standard ( and it is standard) is so extraordinary that this is more a masterclass in art than just mere modelling.

Beautiful.

Best wishes,

I spent some time on vacation translated a small part of this book to Share stories with everyone who is interested.

Preface

On June 21, 1582 Japanese daimyo Oda Nobunaga(织田信长 1534.6.23 -1582.6.21) was murdered by a mutineer his samurai general Akechi Mitsuhide.(明智光秀1528—1582.7.2) This occurred in Honnō-ji, a temple in Kyoto, ending Nobunaga's quest to consolidate centralized power in Japan under his authority.
Hashiba Hideyoshi took office “关白”in July 1585.
Surname Toyotomi was given by the Mikado in August 1586, Hashiba Hideyoshi renamed Toyotomi Hideyoshi
September 24th, 1591, Toyotomi Hideyoshi gave the order to invade Korea and attack Ming dynasty. On January 5, 1592, after a pre-war mobilization, Hideyoshi gathered most of his forces at 名护屋【Place name】and began to deploy his army.

Whichever records were closest to the truth, we can clearly know that Hideyoshi planned to leave 100,000 troops in Japan, and the expedition troops was about 200,000, with a total force of more than 300,000. Such scale was unprecedented in the Sengoku period of Japan.

At eight a.m. in the morning on April 13, the first group, 18,700 warriors left Tsushima island to Korea. About 5 p.m., more than 700 Japanese ships covered the sea, the invasion of Korea began.

(Passages of the engagement storys were omitted, including the first attack on Pyongyang by the Ming army)

Brief introduction of the Ming Army's participation in the war before battle of Byeokjegwan

The Japanese invasion broke out, morning of April 30, the King of Joseon Li Yan(李昖 1552.11.26-1608.3.16) escaped capital, at night of May 2, the capital (Now Seoul)was fallen, , June 14 Pyongyang was deserted and fallen. June 21 King of Joseon Li Yan took refuge in Uiju, the whole Korea was almost lost. Joseon repeatedly appealed to the Ming dynasty for help, the emperor promised to send troops to rescue Joseon, but the first attack on Pyongyang failed ,then hold off for a long time, none crossed the Yalu River. Only the Ministry of War sent counselor Shen Weijing(沈惟敬1537-1599) into Korea pretend to negotiate peace to contain Japanese. The reason why troops delayed was that in the same year when Japanese invaded Korea, in the northwest of the Ming Dynasty, there was a rebellion led by Ba Bai(哱拜1526—1592) in Ningxia. For this reason, the Ming Dynasty mobilized its army to wipe out the rebels in Ningxia, there were no more troops to send to Korea at the same time. On Sept 17, 1592, the rebellion in Ningxia ended, led by Ba bai, a Mongolian chief who had once seek refuge and served as a military officer.

This is a thread that I've been following without commenting so much. But your figures are truelly art and we get to learn something from another part of the world too! Which is great! And doing figures for a diorama and then realize that the diorama maybe won't happen is something I can fully understand (been there, done that). Go on with your figures and accessories and we can admire those and if the dio will happen we can admire that too!

On January 20, Li Rubai’s left army marched south from Pyongyang and recovered Kaesong without fighting. Jan 21, they crossed the Imjin River skirmishes broke out, then the Ming army occupied Paju, towards capital (Seoul), the headquarters of the Japanese army.

On Jan 22, Japanese troops from the north of capital fled back in droves. The Japanese army called an emergency military council overnight, Ishida Mitsunari(石田三成1560-1600), Otani Yoshitsugu,(大谷吉继 1559-1600), Mashita Nagamori(增田长盛 1545-1615) three affairs officers convey orders of Hideyoshi Toyotomi that defend capital and do not engage the enemy outside the walls. But Kobayakawa Takakage(小早川隆景 1533-1597) thought short of provisions and advised to engage the Ming army outside the city. Tachibana Muneshige (立花宗茂 1567-1643) had same opinion that if defend the capital on the walls the Ming army might surround the capital and cut off all reinforcements, it’s in great danger. After deliberation, they finally decided to engage the Ming army outside the capital and set up their respective defensive positions: Kuroda Nagamasa (黑田长政1568-1622) defend east city gate, Kobayakawa Takakage defend south city gate, Kobayakawa Hidekane(小早川秀包1567-1601) 、吉川广家(1561-1625)、Tachibana Muneshige follow Kobayakawa Takakage`s lead. In addition, the Japanese rotation sent patrols out of the city to investigate the trend of the Ming Army.

On Jan 23, daimyos in capital, they were Ukita Hideie(宇喜多秀家1573-1655)、Kobayakawa Takakage、Otani Yoshitsugu、Mashita Nagamori(增田长盛1545-1615)、Maeno Nagayasu (前野长康1528-1595)、Konishi Yukinaga、Sō Yoshitoshi(宗义智1568-1615)、Kuroda Nagamasa、Shimatsu Yoshihiro(岛津义弘1535-1619)、Otomo Yoshishige(大友义统1558-1605)、Tachibana Muneshige、高桥统增、Kobayakawa Hidekane、筑紫广门、Ankokuji Ekei(安国寺惠琼1539-1600)、天野元政、毛利元康. Such a scale, concentrated the Japanese elite and most of the forces. The Japanese army in the capital decided to move Shimatsu Yoshihiro's troop to Yongin, south of the capital, after hearing that tens of thousands of joseon soldiers and rebels were mobilized to cut off the passage between the capital and Busan.

On Jan 23, Li Rusong led army marched south from Pyongyang to Kaesong. He saw that the people were very hungry and ordered his deputy Zhang Shijue to disaster relieve.

On Jan 24, some Koreans in the capital rioted, trying to set fires as planted agents. The Japanese resented the defeat of Pyongyang before, and found the agent inside, so a large-scale slaughter carried out that tens of thousands civilians were massacred. After the massacre, all the Japanese out of the city to guard against the Ming army outside the West gate attack, but the Ming army did not appear all day.

On the morning of Jan 25th, deputy general Cha Dashou(查大受) led a reconnaissance troop of 500 cavalry southward before Li Rusong intends to announce that he will personally inspect the terrain at the front. When Cha Dashou’s troop arrived outside of west gate met the加藤光泰’s Japanese patrol accidentally, then cavalry charged and killed 63 arquebusiers. The Japanese were defeated and fled back ,then the Japanese inside the city quickly dispatched 40, 000 troops to counter attack but Ming army had retreated to Byeokjegwan(碧蹄馆) , the Japanese army mistakenly thought that there were 20, 000 enemies.

On Jan 26, Li Rusong led army heading south from Kaesong as planned. Before this, Joseon officer Liu Chenglong(柳成龙 유성룡1542-1607) assisted the Ming Army to build pontoon bridges, the Ming Army's artillery, equipment, baggage had been transported across the river to the front. Among them, hwachas(a multi-rocket launcher) and several cannons were transported to Byeokjegwan where Ming general Cha Dashou was stationed.
