Russian infantry conversion

Posted by Bendy_Straw on 06 Feb 2021, 13:24

Hey guys, I have a set of Zvezda Russian grenadiers, and I'm trying to convert some of them to regular infantry. The plume is easy to cut, but removing the triple grenade on the shako and the back is kind of a pain in the butt.. I'm using a dremel to trim the two flames out and then use a lighter to kinda melt away the crumbs that are left behind. But is there an easier, or more efficient way to do it? Or should I just let the grenade flame as it is, and just not paint the side flames? Let me know if you have any tips.

Hi,
I'd say simply not paint it.
See below a great example from someone I'd call a real figurine artist.
This a Zvezda infantry regiment.

I use an adjustable-tip electric soldering iron for this, see Cruiser A9 in the desert.

Hey they look awesome, I guess I don't need to cut them off, thank you.

Old work from Matt. Last sign of him was in July 2019. Curious what happened with him. :eh:

You may find getting a variable temperature wood burning kit ($30 on amazon) to be handy for melting bits down without extra damage. Comes with a wide variety of tips, I've found it very useful for removing mold lines.
