Automaton conversion

Posted by jauria.minis on 18 Nov 2020, 02:23

Hi! I'm new here so nice to meet you all :-D . Here I post a project that I'm doing now. Is a pulp inspired automatons band for a variety of skirmish rulesets. I was inspired by the classic old looking pulp fiction. So here are the pictures! The post in the blog is in spanish, my native tongue, but you can guess by the pictures. If you have any question don't doubt asking me.

Blog: https://jauriaminis.wordpress.com/2020/11/16/conversion-automatas/

The main model for this conversion is an Italeri set 6012. From that I cut the head of my chosen model, and I replaced it with a part of the set sprues, one of the size we want.

Image

After that I placed a piece of metal (from a paper clip) in the new head with a drill and fixed it to the body.

Once we have the model in this stage, we could add a couple of details. In this case the important one is the antenna of the head, which is a part of a bayonet from other's model rifle.

Other great addition to the model is a round piece on the elbows. Like a mechanical joint.
After the painting and adding a base (a button) the result look like this:

Hope you enjoyed! ;-)

Hi again! Thanks for the warm welcome. :-D Happy to see you liked the miniatures. Here I post some more photos to show you the entire band. Perfect for a skirmish ruleset.
Before continue here is the original post in my website: https://jauriaminis.wordpress.com/2020/12/02/conversion-los-automatas-ii/

There are 3 new miniatures in this warband, the first is the command unit. From the Ilaleri set 6016:

This is a simple conversion, just a little green stuff in the face, the rest is only a colour scheme common to the rest of the units.
The other 2 miniatures are the cavalry ones. Here i used the Italeri's set 6084 French Cuirassiers. The automaton has the already mentioned conversions, the horses, in others side, has two different approach. Bot have its faces filed, after that I put some green stuff and create two different faces.
On the horse's body I put some sprues, like in the infantry models, mixed with more green stuff. For the bases I used two buttons (a little smaller than the infantry ones) together.
The results looks like this:

The resulting warband looks like this:

You can see a couple more photos on the website.
Hope you enjoy! :P
